The objective of this project is to transform a former cable production site into a truly sustainable district of the future, resolutely avant-garde, based on innovative concepts in terms of mobility, energy and digitalisation, in a collaborative approach with its inhabitants who should number 10,000 by 2029. In order to support the implementation of this pioneering project, Engie and its German partner Gasag are joining forces to ensure the construction and operation of a highly efficient energy infrastructure and will also provide mobility and energy supply services and solutions.

The design, construction and operation of a decentralised heat and cold production plant, heat pumps, as well as the urban distribution network associated with all the buildings in this new low-carbon district through a 20-year contract.
Preparation of facilities for the arrival of hydrogen in the longer term to replace natural gas.
Developing the production of energy from renewable sources, in particular via solar energy using photovoltaic panels, in particular on the roofs of housing.
The installation of electric vehicle recharging stations, a car-pooling system and the management of parking spaces made available in real time.
The digitisation of the district through the use of the latest technologies in the field and the provision of an application for residents facilitating their mobility, monitoring and management of their consumption and their electricity production and the creation of a social link within the new district.
Currently, more than 3,700 apartments, 600 commercial premises and large communal areas and facilities are under construction over an area of 31 hectares. Thanks to a sustainable design integrating renewable energy supply and digitalisation, “Das Neue Gartenfeld” will displace 1,100 tonnes of CO2 per year, reaching, ten years in advance, the climate objectives set by the German federal government for cities and towns. neighbourhoods.
This long-term project - more than 20 years - is fully in line with Engie's roadmap to accelerate the energy transition, notably through renewable energies and decentralised energy infrastructures.
