| Recipe of the Day: Flexibility | | | | | | | | | | |
| | | | Dear Energy Experts,
Take a pinch of storage, half a pound of flexible demand and mix it with prosumers that combine to form virtual power plants: The recipe for success for the energy transition is ready. The use of flexibility in the electricity system, which can be provided by these “ingredients”, is needed more urgently than ever. This is because increasingly negative electricity prices on the market are currently raising concerns that the expansion of renewable energies and electrification could be slowed down. To counteract this, the market and consumption-oriented behavior of renewable systems needs to be promoted quickly.
Solutions for large-scale systems, battery storage power plants and prosumers, among others, can be found at The smarter E Europe, where PV in the system together with storage, e-mobility and the transition to digital and smart grids are all presented. That way, we won´t let the soup get too salty – and we can drive the energy world of tomorrow full speed ahead!
Best regards,
Horst Dufner Head of The smarter E Europe

| | | | | | MARIUS VOGT, CIRCUNOMICS A NEW APPROACH TO BATTERY CIRCUITS
Rather than recycling vehicle batteries once they are no longer suitable for driving a car, the start-up Circunomics uses them for a second-life application as energy storage. Automotive and battery manufacturers can use Circunomics’ digital marketplace to sell their used batteries to customers from the energy industry.
| | | | | | THE SMARTER E EUROPE 2025 SPECIAL EXHIBIT BIDIRECTIONAL CHARGING
Through bidirectional charging, electric cars become flexible energy storage systems that help secure grid stability, increase self-consumption, reduce costs and provide for the seamless integration of renewable sources of energy into the energy system. On our special exhibit you can discover the latest technologies, explore applications and obtain comprehensive information through expert presentations.
| | | | | | MARKET TRENDS LESS NEGATIVITY, PLEASE!
In recent years, we have been seeing negative prices at the power exchange more and more often. Especially on sunny holidays, power production has exceeded demand. Negative prices are a clear signal for electricity market experts that the market needs more flexibility.
