0
Located in Timelkan, the new plant belongs to Austria's Energie AG and has become the countrie's biggest biomass station in service. It has a 50-megawatt capacity and uses only biomass coming from that region. It will power 26,000 households and 6,000 additional ones with remote access The station is equipped with a modern turbulent bed heater that is expected to use some 115,000 tonnes of biomass during the 8,000 yearly hours it is expected to be operating. The biomass to be used will be made up of bark and wood industry waste, old wood and forest clearing residues. The supply of biomass has been guaranteed through long term contracts with several companies.

With this new station, Energie AG doubles its green energy production while avoiding the emission of 136,000 tonnes of CO2 (comparing this plan with a same size coal plant).

The building costs have been around 35 million euros, according to company sources.
